Reference for Robinson Construction Ltd
Robinson Construction completed a kitchen / dining knock through and fitted a new kitchen and bathroom in our house during the period October 2013 to March 2014. They also fitted new doors throughout our house. Dean Robinson and his team did a wonderful job, we can highly recommend them. The aspects of their work that most impressed us are set out below.
Very high standard of workmanship
Justin, a joiner/carpenter, did a really beautiful job of fitting our kitchen. For example, his great work on our wooden worktop. Justin also fitted new doors throughout our house - this was a real challenge as the door frames were irregular, but Justin did a wonderful job at sanding them to size. Justin takes great pride in his work, he is a true craftsman and perfectionist, his work is flawless. Another example of his good work was in carefully levelling the tiles on our bathroom floor, a difficult task as it was an uneven surface. We also received excellent workmanship from Dean's decorators, who did a beautiful job in our kitchen.
Excellent project management
Dean was adept at arranging for the relevant tradesmen to come at the right stages of the project. I was particularly impressed when he managed to arrange for a structural engineer to come to our house and write a report within 24 hours. Dean also always kept us informed of their plans for when they would be with us again.
Friendly, polite, tidy and considerate
Dean's team were always very friendly, polite and considerate around our house. They did a great job at tidying up after themselves every day. They were very considerate of the fact that we were living in the house and we would like it to be left tidy. We also felt happy trusting Dean's team with our house keys.
Went the extra mile
There were occasions when Dean and his team went the extra mile to improve the quality and finish of the job. They did these things without being asked. For example, when Justin fitted our doors, he had a problem with one of the handles and latches: the manufacturer had supplied a set that did not fit well. Justin went to some lengths to speak to the manufacturer to sort out getting a new handle and latch to be sent out. Many workmen would not have gone to this hassle, and would have just fitted the slightly imperfect handle as it was. Another example of Dean's team 'going the extra mile' was when they wiped down the PVC window frames in our kitchen and the wooden door frame in our dining room in order to remove any small traces of old paint. This was true attention to detail which improved the finish of the work.
Reliable on timings
When Dean took on our work, he informed us in advance that as ours was one of his 'smaller' jobs, he may need to shuffle us around to fit in with his other jobs. There were occasions when Dean's team weren't able to come round at short notice. But there were also situations when they were able to come unexpectedly. And overall Dean managed to keep to the original agreed deadline of completing the work by Christmas.
There were occasions when we asked Dean's team to do some work and Dean gave us honest advice that he did not think it was necessary. For example, when we had a small leak in our conservatory roof after very heavy rain. Many builders would have done the work and accepted payment for it. We really appreciated Dean's honest advice.
Dean's transparent charging structure is unusual: I have never come across a builder who works like this. We really appreciated this charging structure - it was very helpful and reassuring to know where our money was going. It gave us confidence that we were paying a fair price and getting value for money.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Robinson Construction Ltd to anyone. Dean's team did a wonderful job and we would definitely use them again.
